W wieku 72 lat zmarł w środę w Houston Dusty Hill, basista słynnej amerykańskiej grupy hardrockowej ZZ Top - poinformowała agencja AP. Przyczyny śmierci nie są znane. Informację o śmierci Hilla podali jego koledzy z zespołu Frank Beard i Billy Gibbons.Joseph Michael Hill urodził się 19 maja 1949 roku w Dallas. W 1968 roku wraz z perkusistą Frankiem Beardem przeniósł się do Houston, gdzie rok później obaj dołączyli do wokalisty Billy Gibbonsa i stworzyli słynne trio, które największe sukcesy święciło w latach 80. XX wieku.
Znakiem rozpoznawczym członków ZZ Top były niemal półmetrowe brody, które noszą od niemal 40 lat. W teledyskach niemal zawsze występowali w teksańskich kapeluszach oraz ciemnych okularach.
W trakcie pięciu dekad działalności ZZ Top sprzedali ok. 50 mln płyt. W 2004 roku zostali wprowadzeni do Rockandrollowej Galerii Sław.
